958: promoted to Canterbury in succession to the Archbishop Oda, but was frozen to death in the Alps while enroute to Rome for his pallium [Ref: Barlow Godwine p34]

will dated 955-58, held Crondall, a property bequeathed to his great-grandfather, Aehtelhelm, by King Alfred, whith the bishop gave to his kinsman, the Ealdorman Aelfheah. Also in possession of Clere in Hampshire, given him by the will of his uncle Aethelwold. Bequeathed Clere, together with "the two Worthys" probably King's Worthy and Martyr Worthy in Hampshire, to an unnamed kinswoman, with reversion to his sister and young kinsman.
