1771: appears in the Massachusetts Tax Valuation in Bedford, one rateable (i.e. he was >16), and no taxable property [Ref: Stan Johnson 5/31/1999]

Apr 18 1774: Thomas Woolley of Richmond, Chester, NH yoeman, Rebeckah Fletcher of Concord, widow, Josiah Davis of Bedford yeoman and Mary Davis his wife, all in the county of Middlesex, David Wooley jabez Stratton labourers Lucy Stratton wife of Jabez and Rebeckah Wooley all of Princeton in Worcester county and Mary Wooley of Bedford in Middlesex, for #718 'lawful Massachusetts money' paid by Ebenezer Fitch and William Marshall both of Bedford labourers sold two parcels of land in Bedford containing 153 acres and four rods lying on either side of the road from Bedford to Concord. Included were the buildings thereon, a pew in the Meetinghouse, and one half of the horse stable which belonged to Samuel Wooley and Josiah Davis. will dated Sep 2 1796, pro 7 Mar 1797. Worcester probate docket 39060 vol 27 folio/page 205. Inventory shows abt 4 acres of land. Real estate value #174, total value #248 5s 9p. The inventory itemized was that of a dirt-poor farmer. One cow, two swine, a small amount of grain or meal, one bed, one sheet, etc. Will gives 1/3 to wife Molly, 1/3 to "eldest daughter" Polly, and 1/3 to "youngest daughter" Lucy.
