opinion of Dugdale was that he was brother of Robert Stafford, a son of Roger de Tony and great-grandson of Hugh de Calvacamp; unfortunately this identification, though not unlikely, cannot be proved [Ref: Wagner EnglishGenealogy p72]

Round was driven to the conclusion that the family lost Drakelowe, probably by exchanging it for another manor, soon after 1086, and only regained it by a grant in 1170-1 [Ref: Wagner EnglishGenealogy p72]
