of Wix [Ref: Keats-Rohan DP p452, Smith Hastings p122]
abt 1123-33: cofounder of Wix, or Sopwick, priory (Benedictine nuns) [Ref:
Keats-Rohan DD p785]
abt 1150: Alexander de Waham notified "R. Bishop of London", Ailward, the
Archdeacon and Ralf, Dean of St Paul's, that, to fulfill his wife's
wishes, he had given the nuns of Wix one third of that vill, which had
formed part of her dower [Ref: Moriarty England1947 p293]
1199: Saswal de Oseville claimed to be the heir of Alexander by descent
from Alexander's elder brother [Ref: Keats-Rohan DD p785]
made arrangement that his self-acquired property should pass to Ralph, younger
son of William fitz Robert, who also followed him as undertenant of Wix [Ref:
Smith Hastings p12]
none of these arrangements would have been possible if Alexander had had
children of his own; he did have a son William, but he must have died before
his father [Ref: Smith Hastings p13]
