1851-72: He and Julia had many land transactions in both Defiance and Paulding counties [Ref: Betty Pollack 9/7/2009]

1857: bought 80 acres from Maria (Lindsley) and George Conkle, probably when they divorced; in 1861 when his saw mill failed, he lost this and other property for payment of taxes, interest and penalty. [Ref: Betty Pollack 9/7/2009]

24 August 1859: Thomas bought all the necessary equipment to operate a saw mill in Auglaize township, Paulding County, taking out a 12-month mortgage, which he was unable to pay. [Ref: Betty Pollack 9/7/2009]
