Research Notes:
Blacksmith in York County, and was so designated in his first purchase of property at Pittsburgh. He probably moved to Pittsburgh about 1780, where he prospered in business and became a very wealthy man. He had seen service in the Revolutionary War. He was an Elder in the First Presbyterian Church of Pittsburgh. [Ref: McCoy STURGEON p163]

Two wives bore him nine children - Mary Small: Reuben and Elizabeth; Mary Kuehn: Catherine, Frederic, Letitia, Mary, Margery, Susanna, and Robert. [Ref: McCoy STURGEON p163]
