When Henry II became King, the lands of the Barony of Hooton Pagnell were divided between Alice (wife of (1) Richard de Curci and (2) Robert de Ghent) and William Paynell. William obtained half of the Barony [Ref: Sanders Baronies p55]

before 1153: succeeded his father as lord of Hooton Pagnell, Yorkshire [Ref: Keats-Rohan DD p1058]
