said to have married, first, Christian, daughter and heiress of Sir John Erskine of Kinnoull, and secondly, Christian, daughter of Sir Robert Crichton, Lord Sanquhar, without issue of either marriage. It is certain, however, that the marriage with Sir John Erskine's daughter did not take place -- Christian Ersking was married, first, to a John Crichton, and second, to Robert Crichton, afterwards Lord Sanquhar. Her second husband, so far as is known, had no daughter, which makes the alleged second marriage of Lord Livingston extremely doubtful. More probably, this Lord was never married, because there is good evidence of his idiocy [Ref: SP V p432]

contracted to marry 6 Jul 1445 Christine da and coh Sir John Erskine of Kinnoull, but the marriage never took place [Ref: CP VIII p91]
