(to whom it had been granted at the conquest), took the name De BERKELEY from

1086: occurs Domesday Gloucestershire, where he was reeve of Berkeley [Ref:
Keats-Rohan DP p401]
held extensive lands of the king in Domesday Book, including Barony of
Dursley [Ref: Sanders Baronies p114]
1086: in Domesday survey, Berkeley was farmed by him from the Crown. He was
tenant in capite of Dursley, Cubberley, Dodington, etc, and (not improbably)
identical with "Roger" farmer of Barton Regis, Bristol [Ref: CP II p124]
made a grant to the canons of Saint-Martin d'Auchy near Aumale [Ref:
