---------- Will of Barbara Whitmore Reist:
In the Name of God Amen.
I Barbara Reist of Warwick Township lancaster County in the State of Pennsylvania, (widow) of the deceased Christian Reist late of the said township, county and state, farmer am ill and weak of body through of good natural reason, God be praised, and think of my mortal body and the immortality of my soul and know and acknowledge that it is ordered for all men once to die, so I make this as my last will and testament in the following manner.
Item First, it is my will and I order that all my just debts shall be paid besides my funeral expenses, by my herein-after-to-be named executors out of my property as promptly as possible after my death.
Item. It is my will and I order that all my house furnishings farm apparatus, dishes and all other effects shall be sold at public sale by hereafter-named executors within four weeks after my death to the highest bidder. It is, however, my will and I order that all my real estate shall be sold not before six months following my death or at such time after my death as my executors think best, at public sale to the highest bidder and my executors named hereafter shall be empowered to deliver to the buyer or buyers of my real estate a legal bill of sale which shall be signed and sealed and serve as if it had been given my me or I had been personally present.
Item. It is my will and I give and bequeath to Barbara Riegel my brass kettle - but all my tin dishes and whatever else is in my corner cupboard besides two chests (one walnut and one pine) and all my clothes I give and bequeath to my two own sisters to their children and their heirs and descendants forever.
Item. It is my will and I give and bequeath to Elizabeth Unbehauer the sum of four hundred pounds in cast acceptable and current in Pennsylvania. With this sum shall my hereafter-named Trustees purchase a home or property for the said Elizabeth Unbehauer and the same shall be her property as long as she lives in this world; after her death however this shall be equally divided among her children and their heirs.
Item. It is my will and I give and bequeath to Catharina Kirschenmann the sum of one hundred sixty pounds in cash acceptable and current in Pennsylvania, with this sum shall my hereafter-named trustees purchase for the said Catharina Kirschenmann a home or property and the same shall be her property as long as she lives in this world, after her death, however, it shall be equally divided among her children and their heirs and descendants.
Item. It is my will and I give and bequeath to Polly Kirschenmann the sum of one hudnred sixty pounds cast acceptable and current in the State of Pennsylvania with said sum my hereafter-named trustees shall purchase for the said Polly Kirschenmann a home or property and it shall be hers as long as she lives in this world, after her death it shall be equally divided among her children and their heirs and descendants.
Item. It is my will and I give and bequeath to Catharina Kirschenmann and Polly Kirschenmann to each of them the sum of $70.00 legal tencer of the U.S. this sum shall be paid to them one year after my death and shall be their property forever.
Item. It is my will and I give and bequeath to Elizabeth Unbehauer her two oldest children and their heirs and descenatnts forever, by name of Johann Mudy and Sally Mudy to each of them the sum of 50 pounds cast acceptable and current in Pennsylvania the said sum shall be placed at interest and paid to them plus the interest when they have attained their majority of 21 years of age.
Item. It is my will and I give and bequeath the half of my real and private property which has not been previously herein disposed of to my deceased husband, Christian Reist's sisters' and brothers' children, to their heirs and descendants forever, namesly: to Peter Reist, his children, to Johannes Reist, his children, to Christian Schneider his children and to Abraham Reist his children and it is my will that the said half portion shall be divided equally among them.
Item. It is my will and I give and bequeath the other half of my property, real and private which remains, to my sisters' and brother-in-laws' children, their heirs and descendants forever, namely to Peter Neukommet his children, to Michael Riegel his children, to Jacob Seitz his children, to Joseph Lichbys his children and to Conrad Rublys his chidren by his first wife. Be it known it is my will that the said half portion shall be divided among them equally.
Item. It is my will and I order that my hereafter-named executors shall have made two headstones one for my deceased husband Christian Reisst and one for me and that possessor of my plantation shall keep the cemetery in good order perpetually.
Item. Finally I choose and select my dear good friends (brothers-in-law) Christian Reist and Christian Basslor as executors of this my last will and testament and as trustees for the estate of Elizabeth Unbehauer, Catharina Kirschenmann, Polly Kirschenmann, Johann Mudy and Sally Mudy - and herewith I renounce and declare invalid all previous wills and testaments made by me and none of them shall be valid execpt this one. To witnes this I have affixed my hand and seal, April 19th, 1820. Barbara (X) Reist.
