Research Notes:
CONNEAUT Eleanor Dufford Sechler Gary, age 95, of Conneaut, Ohio, passed away Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at Inn-Conneaut Health Center, Parrish Road, Conneaut, Ohio.Eleanor was born in Clintonville, Pa., August 15, 1913, the daughter of John Albert Dufford and Ruth Riddle Dufford Marsteller. She was a graduate of Clintonville High School and two years of a secretarial course at Grove City College, Grove City, Pa., in 1933. After college, she worked at the Polk State School in Polk, Pa., as a secretary for six years. Eleanor moved to Ashtabula, Ohio, in 1949 and married Forrest C. Gary in 1965, moving to Florida in 1974. She then moved to Conneaut, Ohio, in 1988 from Florida. Eleanor was a member of the First Baptist Church in Conneaut, Ohio, OES Rose Chapter in Conneaut and several Civic clubs in Conneaut. She was also a volunteer in the Gift Shop at Brown Memorial Hospital. A former resident of Ashtabula, she was a long-time member of the First Covenant Church and worked over 14 years for Union Carbide Corp. Eleanor is survived by one stepbrother, Ivan Marsteller and family; a stepsister-in-law, Amelia Marsteller; two daughters, Donna (William) Wiser of Conneaut, Ohio, and Shirley Rice of Shippensburg, Pa.; three grandchildren, Vickie Yendriga, William Wiser Jr. and Christine Gallagher; and four great-grandchildren, Samantha and Megan Yendriga, Jordan Wiser and Delaney Gallagher. She is also survived by two stepdaughters, Mary (Dean) Hommes and Katherine (Howard) House; five step-grandchildren; and other great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Forrest C. Gary; stepbrother, Emmett Marsteller; and stepsister, Janet Marsteller. Funeral Service will be held 1 p.m. at LARRY E. McKINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 109 Emlenton St., Clintonville, Pa., on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, with the Rev. Jonathan Singer, pastor of The First Baptist Church in Conneaut, Ohio, officiating. Interment will follow at the McKee Cemetery in Clintonville, Pa.
