Research Notes:
the celebrated victim of the "Westmonster Massacre." As this was the result of the first organized resistance to the royal authority in the Colonies, William FRENCH has been claimed by some as the first martyr to the cause of American Independence [Ref: FrenchJM FRENCH p370]

inscription on tombstone reads: In memory of William French, Son to Mr. Nathaniel French. Who was shot at Westminster March ye 13th, 1775, by the hands of Cruel Ministerial tools of George ye 3rd, in the Corthouse at a 11 a Clock at Night in the 22d year of his Age. [Ref: FrenchJM FRENCH p370]
