Research Notes:
appointed first lieutenant of Capt. Lewis Farmer's company of the 1st Battalion of Col. Samuel Miles Pa. Reg't, Apr 6 1776, and was taken prisoner at the battle of Long Island, Aug 27 1776. He bacame a captain in the 9th Reg't Pa Line, Nov 15 1776, and was transferred to the 1st Pennsylvania Jan 17 1781, serving until Jan 1 1783. He became a brigadier-general in the Pa. Militia in 1800, and an Associate Judge of Chester county in 1803. [Ref: Helm TODD p382]
