Research Notes:
c1755: moved from Middleton [Ref: Brownyard PEABODY p4]
Jul 25 1768: warned out of Wilton, New Hampshire, along with wife Sarah, son
Moses, and daughters Molly, Rachel, and Ruth. No mention of sons Isaac nor
John, nor daughters Sarah nor Lucy. "Warning out" was an interesting legal
procedure. If a town issued such a warning to a newcomer, then it had the
authority to return families who had become impoverished and might become
dependent upon the town back to the town from whence they had come within
a period of three years. In present terms, a newcomer who was "warned out"
was not entitled to welfare benefits until he had resided in the town for
three years. It by no means indicated that the members of the family were
undesirable as citizens [Ref: Brownyard PEABODY p4]
private in Capt. N Adams company during the French war in Nova Scotia [Ref:

Jun 3 1776: signed the Association Test, Wilton, NH "We the subscribers do
hereby solemnly pledge, and promise that we will to the upmost of our Power,
and at the Risque of our Lives and Fortunes, oppose the Hostile proceedings of
the British Fleets, and Armies, against the United American colonies."

soldier in the Rev War from Wilton NH [Ref: PeabodySH PEABODY p40]
served in Capt William Barron's Company, age 49 years. Mustered Jul 10
1776, recruited for an expedition to Canada. Discharged 11 Oct 1776 [Ref:
