Research Notes:
served as a cadet in his father's company, 4th Continental Artillery, from Jan 9 1779, and was appointed a second lieutenant, Jul 3 1781. After the Revolution he studied law, and was admitted to Philadelphia Bar, May 15 1789. He practiced his profession in Philadelphia until he was appoined by Governor Snyder President Judge of the Third Judicial District, comprising the counties of Berks, Lehigh, and Northampton.
