Research Notes:
Studied law with his brother Robert, and began practice in Chester and Montgomery counties. In consequence of a sharp letter from his father, disapproving of the way in which a matrimonial engagement was broken, he abandoned his practice, and changing his name to Parker, he moved to North Carolina, where he became a physician.
