Research Notes:
one of the famous "Fighting Butlers" of the Revolution [Ref: Helm TODD p87]

entered the Revolutionary army as a lieutenant in the 3rd Reg't Pa Line, Sep 1 1777, and served til the close of the war. He went to Kentucky in 1784, and was Adjutant-General of the State and served in the War of 1812. [Ref: Helm TODD p87]

He married Miss Hawkins, a sister of the wife of Col. John Todd, who was killed in the battle of Blue Licks [Ref: Helm TODD p87]
