Richard de Anstey successfully fought the famous Anstey case in which he alleged that William's marriage to Adelicia, daughter of Ansfrid the Sheriff, which produced a daughter Mabel de Francheville and others, was adulterous, William still being bound by a promise of marriage to Albreda de Tresgoz. Albreda gave a charter as his widow for St John's, Colchester [Ref: Keats-Rohan DD p678]
