niece of Walter de Grey, Archbishop of York (#21072) [Ref: Banks Baronies
v1p122, Burke Peerage p51, CP II p89, Weis AR7 #93]
Walter de Grey, Archbishop of York, is known to have had two sisters as well
as his brother Robert. They were Eve, wife of of William Brito (le Breton),
and Agnes, wife of [Wakelin?] D'Oilly, whose names are given in a charter in
J. Raine (ed), The Register of Walter Gray, Archbishop of York, 1215-1255
(Surtees Society Publication v.56), p. 227. The Archbishop had been granted
the wardship of William Duston's daughters and coheirs, and married two of
them to his nephews - Walter de Grey, married to Isabel, and John d'Oyley
married to Rose, while Mauger de Vavasour married Joan, the youngest daughter
[CIPM I no. 760]).
Unfortunately I'm not able to say which family Eve, wife of Walter Beke
came from. [Ref: Rosie Bevan SGM 12/8/2003-042926]
