Research Notes:
Henry Jenney was named as the eldest son of Anne and John in the latter's 1532
will and in John's subsequent Inquisition Post Mortem held in Suffolk; no
Henry Jenney appears on the 1568 subsidy roll in Suffolk, yet Henry clearly
was still alive in 1570 as Christopher guaranteed his continued income for
life, in accordance with an agreement made by Christopher and Henry around
1546. There is some evidence that Henry may have been an invalid. Apart from
the rather unusual circumstance of Henry parting with his birthright at an
early age, there is the fact that Francis Jenney, a brother of Henry and
Christopher who died in Lincolnshire in 1577, in his will instructs his
executors, to "fetch [his] brother Henry Jenny and keep him on his own
annuytie."[75] This Henry never appears in any document as a party to any
transactions or litigation, something exceptional among this group of Jenneys,
who seem to have been fond of the courts of the realm; this bolsters the idea
that Henry was somehow incapacitated. [Ref: Hovius JENNEY p19]
