Pitscottie tells, in his usual picturesque style, a story of the capture and imprisonment of the 'tutor of Bombie,' and of his execution, while Sir Patrick Gray, the brother of the first Lord Gray, whose sister is said to have married Maclellan of Bombie, waited with an order from the King demanding his release, but the story lacks confirmation [Ref: SP V p257]
