Research Notes:
said to have been the ancestor of the Prestons of Whitehill, but the earliest progenitor of that family who can with certainty be traced was Thomas Preston (#181665), who on 18 May 1480 had a charter of feu-farm from James Preston, chaplain and minister of the Hospital of St Mary Magdalene, of the lands of Magdalen and Whitehill [Ref: SP III p118]
