Research Notes:
Seigneur of Herbeviller [Ref: Thompson CharlesII v09-42]
parents are uncertain; Casanovas gives Pierre de launay & Alienor de
Vivonne, but does not cite his source [Ref: Thompson CharlesII v17-63(199)]
Casanovas, Henri IV 82, identifies the parents of Jean de Launay as Pierre de
Herbevillers, Seigneur de Jaunay et de Boulle, and Alienor de Vivonne, who as
widow married Jean Rondet (sic). However, court records from 1377-1386
establish that Pierre, Seigneur of Jaunay and of Boullie, died without heir of
his body, and that his widow, Eleanore de Vivonne, had married Jean Roudet.
After her death between 1380 and 1382, Jean Roudet unlawfully retained Boulie,
which she had from her first husband, but the court awarded this territory to
Pierre's sole heir, his sister Jeanne de Jaunay, and her husband, Maurice de
Lenay. Therefore, the parents of Jean de Launay are considered unknown [Ref:
