Clay suggested that he may be Bertram uncle of Ralph fitz Roger fitz Wimar,
which though a guess unsupported by evidence, would give an explanation for
the origin of Roger's tenure under the Bulmer fee [Ref: Keats-Rohan DD p358]

1166: Carta for Bertram's fees in chief was returned by David the Lardiner on
William's behalf; other Bulmer tenancies were then held by Geoffrey de
Valognes, first husband of Bertram's daughter Emma, then wife of Geoffrey de
