Research Notes:
1359-60: served in France, under his father-in-law Sir John Danyers [Ref: Jacobus BULKELEY p7]

1369-70: served under the Black Prince [Ref: Jacobus BULKELEY p7]

had a dispute with Sir Richard Scrope (1st Baron Scrope of Bolton), both claiming the same arms (Azure, a Bend, Or). Witnesses for Scrope included John of Gaunt; the future Henry IV; Sir John Holand; Geoffrey Chaucer; and Henry de Percy ("Harry Hopstpr"). "Wild claims" made by both sides during this dispute are not supported by other evidence [Ref: Jacobus BULKELEY p7]
