Research Notes:
There is no known son of this king by this name, and the chronology is awfully
short, yet an independent early source provides the same relationship, so it
just may be true. The date of Vermudo's birth cannot be firmly placed, due to
his illegitimacy, and it may be possible to bump it back a little to
accomodate this child, who as his first child would clearly be a bastard [Ref:
Todd Farmerie SGM 11/29/1995]
mother of Romano is unknown. He is only known from Salazar's material,
which calls him brother of Alfonso V. He could not be son of Valasquita, who
had a sole daughter Christina. Vermudo had one known bastard, Ordono, the
father of Jimena; there is no reason to think Romano had to be legitimate.
