Research Notes:
ancestor of Ui Tardelbaig, a branch of the sept of In Deis Tuaiscirt (known as Dal Cais from the tenth century on). [Ref: Stewart Baldwin SGM 7/27/1997]

The earlier ancestry of this family is known to be a fabrication, but it can be accepted without much hesitation back to Lachtnae's great-great-grandfather Toirrdelbach (Kelley's generation 9), ancestor of the sept of Ui Toirrdelbaig. [Ref: Stewart Baldwin SGM 7/28/1996]

some of the generations before Toirdelbach might even be genuine, but it is difficult to tell where the real genealogy ends and the phony link with the Eoganachta begins [Ref: Stewart Baldwin SGM 1/7/1996]

primary sources given in "CGH" disagree about the name of Tairdelbach's father, Aithirne in 152b9, Caidlene in 154a40 and LL336d34, Cathal in the Book of Lecan. O'Corrain and Kelley give different pedigrees, and neither supplies a reason for choosing the version that they give. The issue is further complicated by the fact that the early part of the Dal Cais pedigree is known to have been falsified after the previously insignificant Dal Cais (formerly In Deis Tuiascirt) attained importance in the tenth century, and ther were falsly made into relatives of the Eoganachta.
