1862: enlisted in Company D, 42nd Regiment, Massachusetts Volunteers, serving in Texas and Louisiana under General Banks [Ref: Pierce FISKE p587]

1871: went to Bostin, connected with James Edmond & Co in the manufacture of fire brick, etc [Ref: Pierce FISKE p587]
