I Elijah Simmons of the Township of Delaware and County of Mercer, State of
Pennsylvania do make this my last will and testament, hereby revoking and
making void all former wills by me at anytime heretofore made: and first I
direct that my body be decently interred in a black coffin with a white bed
and as to such worldly estate as it hath pleased God to intrust me with, I
dispose of the same as follows: First I direct that all my debts and funeral
expenses be paid as soon after my decease as possible out of the first moneys
that shall come into the hands of my executors from any portion of my estate
real or personal. Also I direct that a fair valuation or appraisement be made
by 3 judicious neighbors of all my said estate including my household
furniture and after being signed by there .names that a copy of the same shall
be given by them to each of my executors. Also I direct that all my personal
property to be sold by public outcry excepting one cow and all my household
furniture, bed and bedding. and $60 in money which is to remain the property
of my loveing wife. Also I direct that my wife is to live in the house we now
live in and have her maintenance from the use of the Farm during her life.
Also I direct that at the decease of my wife all the real estate belonging to
me be sold by my executors, and the money to be divided as follows: viz Elisha
to have $80 and Russel $80 Rachael to have $20 Phebe to have $15 Lydia $20
Ruth $50.The remainder to be divided equally between my two sons Elizah and
Thaddeus share and share a Like. Also I direct that the money alotted to my
said daughters is to remain in the hands of my saide executors allowing them
to draw the interest of the money yearly and so to remain as long as there
husbands are liveing and if they are lef widows, then they are entitled to the
full amount, but if either of my said daughters should decease before
receiving the amount allotted and leaving no heirs then hur said share is to
be divided equally between my remaining heirs share and share alike. And I do
hereby make and ordain my esteemed sons Elijah and Thaddeus Executors of this
my last will and testament. In witness thereof I, Elijah Simmons do set my
hand on one sheet of paper.
