Research Notes:
founder of the Tiverton, Devon, branch of the family [Ref: Weis AR7 #246G]

general pardon of Henry VIII, at his accession (1509), names Robert Prowse as "of Chevythorn Manor" [Ref: Weis AR7 #246G]

1524: paid tax on "goods" totalling 70 pounds in Chagford, Tiverton, and Kenton [Ref: Weis AR7 #246G]

1529: feoffee of a Tiverton charitable trust, which revealed his death ante 1529 [Ref: Weis AR7 #246G]

his Prowse shield of arms, with the 4th son's martlet for difference, hung in St Peters Church, Tiverton, where he and his unnamed wife are buried [Ref: Weis AR7 #246G]

granddaughter was Richarda Prowse Gifford, Lady of Tiverton Castle, as revealed by a deed to a Chevythorn parcel of land in 1589 [Ref: Weis AR7 #246G]
