Research Notes:
L. Levillain, "Les Nibelungen historiques," *Annales du Midi*, 49 and 50
(1937-38) suggests that Theodo (d. 717), described as kinsman of the
Merovingian Theoderic III (d. 691), had a Merovingian mother. Onomastically,
this could account for the Theo- name element, which Levillain believed was
usually borne by the Merovingians and their relatives. [Ref: John Carmi
