From Our Blackburn Branch by Sheldon, Burt, Walker & Tackett - published 1990. Chapter 6, Philip Fry, pg. 119: "We now feel that Philip may have been the son of John Fry of Pennsylvania. A John Fry who married (second) Anna Boger had a son Philip by his first wife, name unknown. This may have been the John Fry born in 1732 in Lancaster Co., PA who married Millicent O'NEAL in Philadelphia 5 Jan 1757."
The above speculations have erroneously been reported as fact in several WorldConnect Projects.
Continuing research since publication of the book has revealed that Philip was not the son of John Henry Fry & his 1st wife Millicent O'Neal, married in Philadelphia in 1757. John & Millicent did have, as their 4th child, a son named Philip; he obviously can't be the Philip who married Mary Derrick, since he would have been born no earlier than 1761. Philip, husband of Mary, was born in 1757/58. Also, as adults, all the children of John & Millicent remained in Lancaster Co., PA; the Philip who married Mary Derrick moved away. At this point it still is not known who Philip's parents were, only who they were not. [Ref: Suzy Burt 10/31/2006]

Another Revolutionary Soldier Gone
DIED - At his residence in Marshall County, Alabama, on the morning of the 18th of April, instant, Mr. Phillip Fry, in the 83rd year of his age. Mr. Fry was a native of Pennsylvania, from whence he emigrated to Virginia, from thence to East Tennessee, and thence to Alabama. He was one of that glorious band of patriots who, under God, assisted in achieving for us the liberties we now enjoy; he was truly the kind husband, the affectionate father, the obliging neighbor, the honest and industrious citizen. Mr. Fry had many trials through life, having buried an affectionate wife and six children but he is now gone leaving a disconsolate widow and nineteen children, one hundred an dthirteen grandchildren and great grandchildren, together with a numerous circle of friends, to mourn their irreparable loss.
