Letter to Mr & Mrs Leroy Cross, Feb 22 1945:
My youngest boy Kenneth was in the South Pacific a year and last month came back to the states and is taking Officers Training at Colgate University in New York. He is married, his wife and young daughter live in Aberdeen, Wash, so he had a short furlough with them before he went east.
It's twelve years since your Uncle Alden passed away and I worked for ten years in the Employment Service in Willison, needing a change badly I sold my home and came here to live and rest. this is my home town (Langdon, ND) and Alden is buried here.
Wesley my oldest boy lives in Illinois. They have a boy 14 and a girl 12. He has been doing war work. Glen, the second boy, lives in San Bernadino, CA. They have no family, he works in an airplane factory as mechanic forman. [Ref: Rita Meistrell 4/24/2004]
