the latter's Domesday estates, as wella s part of those of Urso's brother

obtained a grant from Henry I of all the lands belonging to Roger de
WORCESTER, with a confirmation of certain lands given to him by Adelise, widow
of his father-in-law Urso [Ref: Burke DormantPeerages p29]
held the constableship of Urse, from whom he also inherited the office of
sheriff of Worcestershire [Ref: Sanders Baronies p75(10)]
obtained from Robert, brother of Urse, the office of dispenser together
with lands which had their center in Elmley Castle, co Worc, and owed the
service of 15 knights to the bishop of Worcester [Ref: Sanders Baronies

With regard to the parentage of Walter de Beauchamp, steward to Henry I, Paget
in his Official Baronage for "Beauchamp, of Elmley" (No. 39) notes that he was
"possibly a younger son of the first Hugh de Beauchamp of Bedford, though the
exact relationship to the other members of the family has never been
