Corrections to Douglas Richardson's Royal Ancestry (5 volume set)
These are discrepancies between RoyalAncestry and other reliable sources.
Usually the other source is Complete Peerage (as updated by volume XIV, further updated by Chris Phillip's "Some corrections and additions to the Complete Peerage" at http://www.medievalgenealogy.org.uk/cp/index.shtml, and further updated by the Usenet newsgroup soc.genealogy.medieval discussions.

Another reliable source is Keats-Rohan Domesday People, and Domesday Descendants, as updated by Rosie Bevan's "Corrections aux ?Domesday People? et ?Domesday Descendants?" at https://fmg.ac/fr/projets/domesday-corrections-fr.

Another reliable source is Neil Thompson's _Ancestry of Charles II_, which appeared serially in "The Genealogist" volume 2 through volume 33 (between 1981 and 2012), and was published as a book in 2012.

Usually "corrections" to these sources are posted to the newsgroup/mailing list soc.genealogy.medieval/GEN-MEDIEVAL and discussed, leading to consensus on the revised information. No such posting/discussion was seen for any of these (if there was and I missed it, please send me a pointer to the posting).

RoyalAnc v1p131 Arderne 11 Maud de Camville. "… She married before 1309 Richard de Vernon, Knt, of Haddon and Baslow, Derbyshire, Pitchcott, Buckinghamshire, and Little Appleby, Leicestershire, son and heir apparent of Richard de Vernon, Knt, of Haddon and Baslow, Derbyshire, Harlaston, Staffordshire, and Pitchcott, Buckinghamshire, probably by Isabel, daughter of William de Gernon, Knt."

Isabel was a sister of Andrew, Earl of Carlisle (Cox, Vernon chantries and benefactions to monasteries, Autumn 2006, p141), who is identified in CP III p31 as son of Sir Michael de HARCLA.

Maud, second wife of Richard de Stafford, was identified by Cox (Vernon chantries and benefactions to monasteries, Autumn 2006) p141, as daughter of Sir Rhys Hen Ap Gruffudd and Joan Somerville. Douglas Richardson, in a posting to GEN-MEDIEVAL 9/9/2020, confirms this identification of Maud. Maud Somerville, wife of Edmund Vernon, died before 1 Mar 1380 (Richardson's GEN-MEDIEVAL posting of 9/9/2020), and not 30 Mar 1400 which corrects RoyalAnc v1p133.

RoyalAnc v1p252 Bardolf 12 Thomas BARDOLF "… He married AGNES ___, said to be daughter of William de Grandison, Knt, 1st Lord Grandison."

Agnes wife of Thomas Bardolf (CP I p418 as corrected by XIV p64) "he m. Agnes, perhaps a grandson[bad correction??? maybe should say "a Grandison"](a). He d. 15 Dec 1329" Note(a) revised to say (at end) "seems unlikely to have been da of William Seigneur of Grandison by Blanche of Savoy, as suggested previously. See for example, [ES XI #154]" (but ES XI #154 says nothing about William and wife Blanche of Savoy, and Weis AR7 #257 still says WIlliam & Blanche and cites CP I 418). However, William Grandison, 1st Lord Grandison, had a daughter Agnes, who married John de Northwode (CP IX p756, CP VI p68 (with corr in XIV p348)). It seems very unlikely that there was a second daughter named Agnes, or that Agnes married both John de Northwode (before 1307) and Thomas Bardolf (certainly before 1313). Leaving her as "unknown parentage" seems best.

Her death date is given as "3 Jan 1448/9" in CP I p28 and CP II p428 (with correction in CP XIV p125), and CP XII/2 p384. Her death date is (incorrectly) given as "3 Jun 1449" in CP IV p282, with "For fuller particulars see Warwick, Earldom of" which has the 3 Jan 1448/9 date.

CP II p61 says John Beaumont m. Catherine dau and heir of Thomas Everingham, of Laxton, Notts. CP II p262 William Botreaux m. Elizabeth, dau of John Beaumont and Katherine dau of Thomas Everingham. CP XIV adds that she (Elizabeth) was living 20 Jul 1415, and no corrections regarding Katherine or Thomas. Adam Everingham, 2nd Lord Everingham, held Laxton, Notts, like Thomas Everingham, father of Katherine did. How did Laxton get to Thomas??? Adam Lord Everingham had three sons (none named Thomas) and three daughters (none named Katherine), and one son (Reginald) survived his father. Reginald's only son died as a child; was Thomas the heir? Very little seems known, lots needing further research, but nothing supports a correction to CP.

CP I p33 identified Margaret as daughter of William BRENT, of Charing, Kent. Margaret's father was correctly identified in Richardson's Plantagenet Ancestry p75.

CP II p132 identifies Joan as daughter of John TALBOT & Maud NEVILLE (XIV p87 adds that Maud was elder daughter and heir of Thomas Neville, Lord Furnival). Brad Verity 9/22/2004 on GEN-MEDIEVAL questions whether she was the daughter of Maud Neville or John's second wife Margaret Beauchamp, but draws no conclusions. Maud was daughter of Thomas Camoys, 3rd Lord Camoys, and Elizabeth Louches. So says CP II p219 (with corr in XIV p98), CP IV p325, and CP VI p318 (with corr in XIV p368). Also says Roskell HoP v2p284 (entry for Sir William Bonville). Also Faris PA2 p37. Also Richardson PA p127 and p240. But then there is Douglas Richardson's GEN-MEDIEVAL posting on 12/23/2006, which raises questions about Maud's parentage, but offers no solutions, and led to no discussion.

This is a broken link in this line. Rosie Bevan's posting to GEN-MEDIEVAL 8/2/2004 "The Longford study attempts to give as full and accurate a family history as possible and this involved an exercise in straightening out errors which occur for five consecutive generations in the Visitation pedigree. I used contemporary sources where possible but found no evidence for a marriage between Robert Neville and a Longford daughter, which I understand originates from two conflicting Visitation pedigrees, one of which is chronologically impossible. As such the connection should be considered unsupported and unproven." The article appeared in FMG v1 no 4 (2004).
